Memo For Friday, January 24, 2025

All I can really say at this point is that I have never seen such a flurry of activity in my life. The first week in office for President Trump has been a major reckoning and an example of how things should be done. It seems that not a second has been wasted and the coordination of many branches of activity has been well thought out.

Here in the general population of the DC metropolitan area, the atmosphere is hard to describe. There has been a lot happening in addition to President Trump’s first week back. The Washington Commanders will play in the NFC Championship this weekend, the weather has been icy and about as cold as I can remember. The mood is one that I believe will only escalate as the days go on, but currently it is a frosty mixture of anger, excitement, confusion and downright stubbornness. Many will do what they can to resist what is inevitable, but they do not have the firepower that once supported them.
